MUHAMMAD ASLAM, MEMBER-I.- The appellant Mr. Shafique Ahmad, S.I. Lahore L/66 has appealed for his confirmation as S.I. w.e.f. 17.12.1985 or 17.12.1987 in terms of rule 13.18 of Police Rules, 1934 and for ently in list F for promotion as Inspector. This request is based 0n the fact that he was confirmed as AS1 w.e.f 17.12.1985 and also admitted to list E as well as promoted as officiating S.I. w.e.f, the same date, in recognition of gallentiy performance. The appellant was actually confirmed as S.I. On 24.11.1991. He has contehded that he should be confirmed as S.I. w.e.f, the date of his promotion as such i.e. 17.12.1985, or in any case after the expiry of a period of two years of probation w.e.f 17.12.1987.

His departmental representation was however, rejected by the IGP vide his order dated 29.5.1996 with the observation that the appellant had been rightly confirmed as he could not be confirmed before passing the upper school course. considered for confirmation as S.I. w.e.f. 17.12.1987 and for further benefits including list' F and further promotion on the basis of seniority and in accordance w ith the rules. There are no orders as to costs.
