' This is an application for the grant of bail to the petitioners, who are accused, besides 8 others, in a double murder case of Police Station Chauntra, District Rawalpindi.
2. The main ground urged for their release on bail is the' lapse of statutory period of two years to their arrest and the trial of the case is still hanging fire at the initial stage.
3. I have gone through the interim orders, copy of which is available on the record, and find that the delay in the trial has occurred mainly on account of the inefficiency of the Presiding Officers, who have been dealing with it so far. The non-cooperation of the defence counsel has also contributed to some extent. The case is now pending in the Court of Ch. Muhammad Munir, Additional Sessions Judge, Rawalpindi and the next date of hearing is 23rd instant. He is directed to proceed with the trial on day to day basis and decide this case before this month is out, under intimation to this Court. The learned counsel for the petitioners, who is also the defence counsel, is directed to cooperate with the learned trial Judge. Deputy Registrar (J.) shall also convey this order to the learned trial Judge on telephone.
4. With these observations the application is disposed of.
