After having heard the learned counsel for the parties, I am of the view that prima facie there are allegations against the petitioner which if proved can be punished with life imprisonment and, therefore, the case falls within the prohibitory clause of section 497(1) Cr.P.C. The challan has been submitted.
2. In these circumstances, I would direct the learned Sessions Judge, Gujrat to expedite the trial in this case so that the same is concluded by the end of March 1985. A fortnightly progress report with regard to the conduct of the trial shall be sent to this Court. With these observations this petition is dismissed.
