' B.S. (Statistics) Session 1999-2001, which consists of 8 semesters. They completed their five semesters with the following result:-- Petitioner # 1 Semester GPA CGPA I 3.39 II 2.73 3.06 III 2.29 2.80 IV 1.74 2.54 V 1.00 2.23 Petitioner # 1 Semester GPA CGPA I 2.77 II 2.06 2.41 III 2.08 2.30 IV 2.28 2.29 V 1.07 2.05 ' It is pointed out by learned counsel for the petitioners that petitioner No.1 could not pass 1 subject of 3rd semester (which has been passed with fifth semester), 3 subjects of 4th semester and 5 subjects of 5th semester. Petitioner No.2 could not pass 1 subject of 3rd semester (which has been passed with 5th semester), 2 subjects of 4th semester and 4 subjects of 5th semester.
' Resultantly, the names of the petitioners were removed from the department. The petitioners filed applications to respondent No.2 for promotion to 6th semester but these have not been decided so far. Feeling aggrieved by the act of the respondent, the petitioners have filed this writ petition.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has contended that the petitioners have obtained minimum CGPA of 2.0 and have passed more than 50% courses, therefore, their removal from the roll of the department suffers from serious legal infirmity and is also in violation of Regulation No.11 (v) of the Uniform Semester Rules.
3. On the other hand, learned counsel for the respondent University has submitted that the petitioners could not pass 50% courses and as such, they Were dropped from the roll of the department in terms of the said regulation.

For the disposal of this writ petition, it is necessary to reproduce Regulation No.11(v) of the Uniform Semester Rules, which is as under:-- "Likewise at the end of the each semester, a student must obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average (C.G.P.A.) of 2.0 and must also pass at least 50% of the courses taken by him in order to be promoted to the next semester, if any of the preceding two conditions is not complied with by a student, he shall be removed from the rolls of the department."
' From a bare perusal of the said regulation, it is crystal clear that ii a student is failed to fulfil any of the two conditions mentioned in the said rule, he shall be removed from the rolls of the department.
6. In the present case, petitioner No.1 Muzammal Shahzad remained a student of 5th semester (Session 2002-2006) of B.S. (4 years) in Statistics at B.Z. University Multan and dropped in 5th semester because he could not pass 50% courses as he failed in five courses out of seven courses in semester five. Petitioner No.2, Fakhra Noureen remained a student of 5th semester (Session 2002-2006) of B.S. (4 years) in Statistics at B.Z.
University, Multan and dropped in 5th semester because she could not pass 50% courses as she failed in four courses out of seven courses in semester five.
7. From the facts of this case, it is clear that both the petitioners could not passed 50% courses but obtained C.G.P.A. Of 2.00. As the one condition could not be fulfilled by the petitioners, they were unfortunately dropped from the roll of the department in terms of Regulation No.11 (v) of ,the Uniform Semester Rules. The students who do not acquire the required score in the semester system are to be dropped from the roll of the department as per the regulations, keeping in view the standard of education by strictly adhering to the regulations for each discipline. Reliance in this behalf is placed on Bahauddin Zakariya University v. Muhammad Ilyas 2004 YLR 2639. Rules and regulations framed by the University authorities for the purpose of conducting/regularizing its examination etc. Were required to be interpreted by the University authorities itself and Courts should avoid to interpret the same unless a case of grave injustice was made out. I am sir ported by the judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court reported in Muhammad Ilyas v. Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan and another 2005 SCM R 961. As the petitioners did not pass 50% courses, the University authorities in exercise of power conferred upon them under Regulation No.11(v) of c the Uniform Semester Rules removed their names from the roll.
8. In view of the above circumstances, this petition is dismissed with no order as to costs.
